Functional Outcome of Proximal Fibular Osteotomy in Medial Compartment Osteoarthritis of The Knee Joint

Background: Proximal Fibular Osteotomy (PFO) has been proposed as a new surgical option for pain relief in patients with medial compartment knee osteoarthritis. It is simple, safe and affordable. To assess functional outcome of proximal fibular osteotomy osteoarthritis joint.
 Materials methods: This prospective hospital based clinical trial was carried out the Department Orthopedic Surgery Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Chattogram from July 2019 to June 2020. A total 30 were enrolled through inclusion exclusion criteria by purposive sampling. done after taking written informed consent. Data recorded predesigned case record form. All followed up 6 months when final assessed Oxford Knee Score. data analyzed statistically using Statistical Package Social Sciences (SPSS-25). The result expressed frequency, percentage mean ± SD. Level significance calculated at p<0.05.
 Results: In this study, cases, majority cases (57.7%) 55-64 years age group. Mean SD pre-operative post-operative VAS score 7.13 1.408 2.10 0.803 respectively. According Score (OKS) postoperative were, 18.00 2.117 36.53 2.403. Tibio Femoral Angle 182.97 1.810 178.63 1.377 Medial Joint Space (mm) 1.223 0.378 3.816 0.982 Lateral 6.640 1.209 5.050 0.897 respectively.
 Conclusion: After analyzing results present it can be concluded that new, simple procedure management which may delay need definitive procedures like unicompartmental arthroplasty or replacement.
